I believe my project and presentation went well. They were both successful in my opinion. I completed all of my work before the day of the presentation so I wasn't super stressed out about the project. The panel seemed to like it and asked questions at the end. Also one of the panel members ran into my Dad at the end of the of the day and told him that I did very well on my presentation.
I have learned that it isn't about getting out of class or just volunteering for hours. It is about trying to make a difference and making the world a better place. When I first started volunteering it was to get out of class. But after the first drive I realized it was more than that. I was able to help save lives by getting people to sign up to donate which seems like I wasn't doing much to help. But, I was making a difference. If I wasn't able to get students to sign up there wouldn't even be a blood drive. So you might not see it at first but you are making a difference. and that is what social action has taught me,.
Benefits of donating blood

I am already involved with my social action issue. I currently am volunteering with the Red Cross. I help with school blood drives. Before the blood drive I help students sign up to donate blood. On the day of the blood drive I set up a sign in table and a snack table. I help students and community members sign in by scanning their donor card or have them sign into a computer. Once this process is complete I give them a name tag according to how many times they have donated. I then wait at the snack table to help the donor recover. I give them a choice of their snack and a beverage to raise the blood sugar levels back up. Once they have stayed for about 15 minutes they are free to go unless they do not feel good. Then they stay for a little longer until they have fully recovered
